Our Wonderful Years...

Over the course of the average lifetime you meet a lot of people. Some of them stick with you through thick and thin. Some weave their way through your life and disappear forever. But once in a while someone comes along who earns a permanent place in your heart.

Brown hair, brown eyes. When she smiled, I smiled. When she cried, I cried. Every single thing that happened to me that mattered, in some way, had to do with her. After all, she was my girl. And I knew that she understood that in some small way my achievements were her achievements.

Happy Memorial Day!

Steven and I went out to my Mom and Dad's yesterday to hang out and take Grandma to the casino. On our way home I snapped this in Newberg while in the car:Memorial day is a great way to remember those who serve our country in the past, present and future and we are so proud of what they do for us so that this can remain the home of the free and the land of the brave! Thank you so much!

On another note- it is also the first three day weekend of the year and yesterday I painted signs for my Mom's garden while she sewed up some of my capri pants that had a hole in them. I think it was fair trade.

Anyways, they turned out too cute not to share. The squash sign came out the best, it was the last one I did and I had the hang of it. The mint could have been better- I'd re-paint it but she sent me a text saying she's already got it hanging up. I thought the cucumber one looked the most "authentic"...I was going for the olden style I've seen at the farms we used to go to around Halloween time.

Another side note- this is all free hand. I didn't trace the words in pencil or anything...just me, a very fine tipped brush and black paint! The cucumber word was hard because I did the yellow first then outlined in black. Whew!
Earlier today we went to see "Angels and Demons", very good! Now, we just finished up having a BBQ with Mel, Ryan and Keith. It was our first corn on the cob of the year and Steven did it up on the BBQ. It was so yummy and no fires! Success! I feel like I need another three day weekend to recover from all the awesome-ness of this three day weekend. Good thing I'm only on for three days this week at work and have Friday off! Sometimes things work out really nice :) I'm off to get ready for my (short) week.
