This is the strawberry tallcake I made for Mother's Day 2009. We randomly had strawberries and this looked so yummy. The original recipe is from Sunset Magazine, but I adapted it to fit my style.

My strawberry tallcake consists of a butter cake recipe from my favorite cake cookbook. I'm pretty sure any butter cake will work but the sunset recipe looked good too.
Then I used an entire jar of homemade strawberry jam as the first layer, cool whip and then strawberries that were hulled and sliced with my egg slicer. Repeat up to the top!
Then to make it extra special I put more whipped cream, sliced berries and melted drizzled dark and white chocolate on top!

Is it any wonder that we ate it all!?!
