Our Wonderful Years...

Over the course of the average lifetime you meet a lot of people. Some of them stick with you through thick and thin. Some weave their way through your life and disappear forever. But once in a while someone comes along who earns a permanent place in your heart.

Brown hair, brown eyes. When she smiled, I smiled. When she cried, I cried. Every single thing that happened to me that mattered, in some way, had to do with her. After all, she was my girl. And I knew that she understood that in some small way my achievements were her achievements.

Strawberry Tallcake, Banana Split...

This is the strawberry tallcake I made for Mother's Day 2009. We randomly had strawberries and this looked so yummy. The original recipe is from Sunset Magazine, but I adapted it to fit my style. My strawberry tallcake consists of a butter cake recipe from my favorite cake cookbook. I'm pretty sure any butter cake will work but the sunset recipe looked good too.

Then I used an entire jar of homemade strawberry jam as the first layer, cool whip and then strawberries that were hulled and sliced with my egg slicer. Repeat up to the top!

Then to make it extra special I put more whipped cream, sliced berries and melted drizzled dark and white chocolate on top!

Is it any wonder that we ate it all!?!
