Thank you so much for the ice cream maker. Since we've had such hot weather we decided to try out a "Gourmet Magazine" recipe. This is our homemade from scratch mint ice cream! We used the mint that Mom grew in her herb garden!

But I really have to tell you, the most important thing was that this recipe was a
CUSTARD based ice cream. Custard requires "stove top thickening"...and I DID IT! My first successful custard... I contribute it largely to my new candy thermometer. :)

sooooo hard to wait that long, I dished it up and it looked like this:
