Our Wonderful Years...

Over the course of the average lifetime you meet a lot of people. Some of them stick with you through thick and thin. Some weave their way through your life and disappear forever. But once in a while someone comes along who earns a permanent place in your heart.

Brown hair, brown eyes. When she smiled, I smiled. When she cried, I cried. Every single thing that happened to me that mattered, in some way, had to do with her. After all, she was my girl. And I knew that she understood that in some small way my achievements were her achievements.

Baby Shower Gifts!

I had wanted to make a few special things for the arrival of my new nephew in May. Here's what I came up with:I discussed with my sister and she said that even though they have a lot of stuff already from their first boy, it would be nice to have some things that were "just for the new little guy"...so we came up with some burp rags/cloths and I did my first blanket.

There are six burp cloths in total, two of each design shown here- There is a polka dot with minky and a monkey print with minky. Those are snuggie flannel on one side and minky on the back. They are both different sizes, the monkey ones are slightly larger. Then there is my own special creation- the blue with polka dot print is a burp rag in every sense of the word. It is blue terrry cloth all around with a strip of snuggie flannel on the front. You can get the edges wet and then you have a soft spot for baby to burp and a wash cloth all in one! I am interested to see how they like these.

The blanket is... well... it was difficult for me! One the one hand, I love it and it turned out really well. On the other hand, working with the minky on one side and flannel on the other proved to be difficult (don't know if I'm just not used to it or working with minky really is tough?)... In the end I got it together with the help of Mom and we got the blanket binding on. The binding is the super silky stuff so the entire blanket is super soft and snuggly. I put it on my lap one day while I was finishing it and it was so cuddly I wanted to make one big enough for me! Maybe some day...

I hope my nephew loves these things and Steven and I can't wait for him to arrive!
