Our Wonderful Years...

Over the course of the average lifetime you meet a lot of people. Some of them stick with you through thick and thin. Some weave their way through your life and disappear forever. But once in a while someone comes along who earns a permanent place in your heart.

Brown hair, brown eyes. When she smiled, I smiled. When she cried, I cried. Every single thing that happened to me that mattered, in some way, had to do with her. After all, she was my girl. And I knew that she understood that in some small way my achievements were her achievements.

June Pt. 3:

The third weekend of June was too crazy to fully recount! I swear we spent so much time driving (at least I did) that it was simply madness.

Details:

A while back, my Mom and Aunt Donna decided to host a 100th Birthday party for my Grandma. Her actual birthday is in August, but the East Coasters of the family were all able to make a trip in June, so there it was.

Mom and Donna had been planning for months and all their prep work did not go unnoticed. There were over 50 people on their property at the height of all the action on Saturday. We met cousins and such from back east that we’d never met before and everyone was just so nice for the reunion. There was even a campfire of sorts! I wish I had a photo of it- it was too cool.

The food was, as always, fabulous and plentiful! Mom and Donna outdid themselves working on everything. Nobody went without, I don’t think. There were three motor homes and tents set up for those who stayed on the property and others stayed in town at the motel. Friday night most people started arriving and a BBQ was shared by all. Saturday was the biggest day and food, people and fun kept rolling along. We did the main meal and then sang Happy Birthday to Grandma, who posed with her cake. Then I was able to get a nice family shot of everyone in groups with Grandma. I think she really enjoyed it. Later on Sunday, Steven downloaded my photos and was able to make copies for people to take home. I think one of the photos of David’s family is a Five-Generation!

Meanwhile on Saturday, Steven was busy cooking for Tara’s Family Graduation party. I rushed to leave Mom and Dad’s and sped all the way there, but the rain had just come and everyone had pretty much disbanded by the time I got there. I was able to have cake and see her open a few presents before Steven, Keith (who played bartender!) and I left for the night.

On Sunday, Steven and I drove back out to the reunion and enjoyed the last of the weekend. We stayed for the big family meal and then headed home to try to recoup from all the excitement!
